It varies a lot. My employer covers only the employee, with an option to add family members at a discounted group rate. Some larger employers cover dependants fully. Ask HR for the policy summary and check outpatient limits, maternity and dental. If you need separate cover, get quotes before you arrive, because private GP and specialist visits are not cheap for foreigners.
